Tower of Power (or TOP for short) is an AmericanR&B-based horn section and band, originating in Oakland, California, that has been performing for over 43 years.[1] They are best known for their funky soul sound highlighted by a powerful horn section. There have been several lead vocalists, the most famous being Lenny Williams, who fronted the band between early 1973 and late 1974, the period of their greatest commercial success. Their biggest hits include "You're Still A Young Man", "So Very Hard To Go", "What Is Hip?", and "Don't Change Horses (In the Middle of a Stream)." Lenny Williams (born Leonard Charles Williams on February 6, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas) was the lead vocalist for Tower of Power from 1972–1974 and appeared on three of the group's most commercially successful albums: Tower Of Power, Back To Oakland, and Urban Renewal. Williams left the group to pursue a solo career and made several hit recordings, including “Cause I Love You” and "Choosing You."

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Police have confirmed that a kidnapped 19-year-old woman Latasha Jackson, and her 13-month-old daughter, Chaniya Wynn, have been found dead on the 7000 block of Union Avenue in a closed garage.
The suspect, Thomas Lorde, 35, was also found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was Jackson's estranged boyfriend.
According to a police report, officers responded to the area of E. 70th St. and Union Ave., and then proceded to Jackson's home after Jackson and Wynn were kidnapped.
Around 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Jackson was pushing Wynn in a stroller headed south on E. 72nd St. along with David Thomas, 14. At that time, Lorde walked up to Thomas and showed him a handgun and told him "get to walking" -- as in leave the area.
Lorde then started to push the stroller with one hand while using the gun to signal Jackson to walk with him.
Thomas walked away from the scene but continued to observe the situation. He saw them continue south until he lost sight of them at E. 72nd and Union. That's when Thomas ran home and told his mother what happened. She then alerted police.
An Amber Alert was issued a few hours later.
Police investigation shows that Jackson had been attempting to get out of a relationship she had with Lorde. They had been a couple for about two months.
Cleveland Police cancelled the Amber Alert for the abducted mother and child just before 4:00 a.m. Sunday when the three were located dead in the garage of a vacant house.
According to officials, Lorde has an extensive criminal history and is registered as a sexual predator. According to the State of Ohio, he was released in 2009 after serving time for a case involving a juvenile female.
He was also a registered sex offender in the state of New York with a code 3, "extremely violent" note attached to his record.

TOUGH ON ILLEGAL ALIENS REPUBLICAN SHERIFF OUTTED FOR BEING GAY BY HIS ILLEGAL ALIEN MEXICAN BOYFRIEND!

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu speaks at a news conference, Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 in Florence, Ariz. Babeu, a sheriff seeking the GOP nomination for an Arizona congressional seat has been forced to confirm he is gay amid allegations of misconduct made by a man with whom he previously had a relationship. FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) — Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu built a reputation as a rising, conservative star by taking a hardline stance against illegal immigration, attacking the Obama administration and appearing alongside Sen. John McCain in a 2010 re-election ad in which McCain urged federal officials to just "complete the danged fence."
But, on Saturday, Babeu's conservative image took a beating as he was forced to confirm publicly that he is gay and was involved in a relationship with a Mexican immigrant who claims the sheriff threatened to have him deported if he revealed their relationship.
Babeu denies any wrongdoing, and has vowed to continue his battle for the GOP nomination in an extremely conservative rural congressional district. He recognizes he is fighting an uphill battle, especially in a state where family values, as defined by a large evangelical Christian and Mormon population, often battle fierce, anti-immigrant beliefs to define conservatism.
At a lengthy press conference, Babeu said he hopes voters will stick with him.
His competitors think that's unlikely. Arizona Sen. Ron Gould says Babeu is sure to lose major support among the family-values voters who oppose gay marriage.
Babeu previously avoided a public stance on gay rights, but came out in favor of them on Saturday.
"I can be a supporter and get out there and help articulate as we progress as a culture and a society, that there should be individual liberties and there should be individual freedoms," Babeu said. "For any other person to define somebody else's relationship and say it not OK, that is not who we are as Americans."
Saturday's revelation already led Babeu to call presidential candidate Mitt Romney's staff to say he would step down from his post as state campaign co-chair. Babeu campaigned with Romney and was featured in robocalls in Iowa attacking Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who was then seeking the GOP nomination.
"Sheriff Babeu has stepped down from his volunteer position with the campaign so he can focus on the allegations against him. We support his decision," Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in a statement.
Some political observers think Babeu's career could be over.
"There is no question that his budding congressional campaign is over," longtime Arizona Republican political consultant Sean Noble wrote on his blog. "Because it is a Republican primary in a conservative district, it's likely that the thing that hurts him the most is that he was in a gay relationship."
Others aren't sure it's the end, but they said there's no doubt he will be hurt.
"It obviously has implications for a congressional race. There's just no question about it," said Bruce Merrill, an Arizona State University political science professor emeritus and a longtime pollster. "I don't see how any reasonable person cannot think that this is going to hurt him, particularly with the constituency that he has built, which is a very evangelical, right-wing, family oriented conservative constituency."
Babeu's acknowledgment that he is gay came after a story in the Phoenix New Times, an alternative weekly magazine that quoted a former lover as saying Babeu threatened his immigration status if he revealed their relationship.
Babeu denied claims he tried to threaten the man, a former campaign volunteer. He said the accusations were an attempt to hurt his political career. The legal status of the man, identified only as Jose by the New Times and Babeu, was unclear. His lawyer said he was unavailable for comment but might be available in a few days.
Jose provided the New Times with photos of him and Babeu embracing. It also posted a cell phone self-portrait of a smiling Babeu in his underwear and another of what appears to be the shirtless sheriff in a bathroom, posted on a gay dating web site. Babeu didn't deny their authenticity.
Babeu made national headlines soon after his 2008 defeat of an incumbent in his rural county south of Phoenix by jumping on the anti-illegal immigration bandwagon led by longtime Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and berating the federal government for allowing human and drug smuggling to go unchecked.
Then in 2010, he was tapped by McCain to help champion his border security plan during McCain's re-election effort.
McCain, asked Sunday on ABC's "This Week" about Babeu, said he thought of him as a friend.
"I do not know the details, except what has been published in the media," he said. "And I'm sure there will be a thorough and complete investigation, if there is any allegation of wrongdoing. All I can say is that he also deserves the benefit, as every citizen does, of innocence until proven guilty. But I appreciate the support that he gave me in my campaign and always will."
"All I can say is he's the sheriff of Pinal County, and it's up to him to face his issues, not me," Arpaio told The Arizona Republic. He said Babeu has been "begging" for an endorsement in the congressional primary.
"I don't even think I'm going to get involved," Arpaio said. "We'll see what happens with Babeu."
Just last weekend, Babeu gave a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., reiterating his criticism of Obama, the Justice Department's failed "Operation Fast and Furious" gunrunning investigation and seeking support for his congressional campaign.
Babeu has been something of an enigma since he appeared on the scene. He was elected to the city council of his hometown of North Adams, Mass., at age 18, and came to Arizona shortly after losing an election for North Adams mayor in 2001.
He became a Chandler police officer and in November 2008 defeated a Democratic incumbent to become sheriff.
Along the way, he served in the Army National Guard as both an enlisted man and an officer, retiring from the Arizona Guard as a major after serving stints in Iraq and along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Well, Well Well! Look what we have here! Looks like we have another example of White GOP hypocrisy, White dirty secrets & lies, White on-the-down-low homosexuality, and White GOP hypocrisy.... (did I already mention that?)
Here we have a so-called big shot Pinal County Sheriff in Arizona, a Republican at that (you know the Republican Party claims to be for "family values", "wholesomeness", "purity", "Against homosexuals", "For God & Guns", and of course the main political party that loves the good ol' "AmeriKKKan way"!)
And here is Sheriff Babeu attacking so-called illegal Mexicans spouting off everywhere there's a microphone that the illegal Mexican should be tossed back to Mexico and out of the ol' good ol' U. S. of A. all while touting his GOP Republican talking points and endorsing Republican Presidential Candidate Willard Mitt Romney.
This is the same white man Arizona sheriff who attacks PresidentBarack Obama EVERY chance he gets because he is still pissed off and mad that his man Sen. John (Wayne) McCain didn't win the presidency against then Sen. Obama with [his endorsement] back in 2008.
But low and behold the good ol' boy Sheriff while talking tough and big shotting in public about his mortal disdain for the illegal Mexican ... He's actually practicing hotnasty sweaty homosexual "backdoor love" .... WITH AN ILLEGAL MEXICAN!!!
Brothers and sisters I can't make this shit up! Y'all just read it! I'm still laughing my ass off!!! Boy I'll tell you these hypocritical white folks are better comedy than anything you can find on Comedy Central AND The Laugh Factory put together!!!
Brown said security asked his entourage to move three times
He had arrived with about nine people
"I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how," he says
He and Houston were married from 1992 till 2007
Newark, New Jersey (CNN) -- Singer Bobby Brown made a brief and dramatic appearance at ex-wife Whitney Houston's memorial service on Saturday, leaving abruptly after being told that his entourage couldn't sit together, police sources told CNN.
He arrived with several people and was apparently emotionally distraught, with red eyes and head hanging as he walked up the aisle of the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. He approached Houston's casket, past it and back down the aisle.
On CNN's live video feed, Brown was shown standing out front of the church soon after the service began. He was not seated with family, friends or other celebrities at the front of the church.
"My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston," Brown later said in a news statement. "We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions. I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi Kristina.
"In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. ... I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how," the statement said.
Describing what happened at the service, the Rev. Al Sharpton posted on his Twitter account: "I am at Whitney's funeral. I spoke with Bobby Brown trying to calm him down and not distract from the services. Today is about Whitney."
Brown is scheduled to perform with his group, New Edition, later Saturday in Connecticut. Brown considers performing as therapy to get him through a difficult time, a source close to him said Sunday.
He and Houston were married from 1992 till 2007, with Houston getting sole custody of their daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, when they divorced. Their daughter was born in 1993.
When they married in July 1992, questions arose about whether it was a publicity stunt to help polish Brown's image as a bad boy who had weathered drug rumors and had acknowledged having three children out of wedlock. Houston scoffed at such rumors, saying that anyone who questioned their marriage didn't understand what the commitment meant to her. They married in a lavish ceremony at her New Jersey estate.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, reports begin to surface about Houston's struggles with drug addiction, health problems and her rocky marriage with Brown. Her album sales dropped off, and her voice began to show signs of wear.
In a now-infamous interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer in 2002, Houston admitted to using drugs, but denied using crack. "Crack is whack," she said, quoting a line from a mural painted in 1986. In the same interview, Houston said, "The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy."
In 2004, filming began on the short-lived reality show "Being Bobby Brown." "The show aired during the worst years of the couple's crumbling marriage: drug use, lifestyle excess and bad behavior were all caught on tape, and Houston's reputation sunk to new lows," according to Biography.com. Houston later said she did the show to try to save her marriage.
In March 2011, Brown announced that he and his New Edition bandmates were reuniting and planning a new album and tour.
The group -- made up of Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Michael Bivins, Ricky Bell, Ronnie DeVoe and Johnny Gill -- had gotten together periodically over the years, with and without Brown.
The band was set to give it one more shot, Brown said last March.
"The good news I want to announce is New Edition has gotten back together," he said on daytime talk show "The View."
Brown also talked a bit about Houston and their daughter, who he said looked like him, but sang better than Houston.
After highly publicized tumultuous times that included substance abuse problems and multiple brushes with the law over the years, Brown said he was doing well.
"I have a brand new son, Cassius," he said then. "I have a fiancée. I am just moving forward with my life and trying to stay positive."
Brown's music career initially took off with New Edition, which started as an R&B boy band.
He left New Edition in 1986, after hits that included "Candy Girl," "Cool It Now," and "Mr. Telephone Man."
His solo career has included his 1988 multiplatinum album, "Don't Be Cruel," which featured the hit singles "Don't Be Cruel," "Every Little Step," "Rock Wit' Cha," "My Prerogative" and "Roni."
CNN's Don Lemon and Raelyn Johnson contributed to this report.
Lord Have Mercy!!! What more can I say except "The Blaming of Bobby Brown Needs To Stop!!!"
We here at The Black Fist Blog, are quite sure that Bobby Brown is hurting too. His daughter only has one parent left now. That alone should be respected. Please read our blog entry: THE BLAMING OF BOBBY BROWN NEEDS TO STOP!!!
