  1. Barack Obama - I wish they had asked me about his record and achiements in office.

During the first - 8 - eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced 233 regarding healthcare reform, 125 on poverty and public assistance, 112 crime fighting bills, 97 economic bills,
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 15 gun control,
6 veterans affairs and many others.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and
co-sponsored another 427. These included **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency
Act of 2006 - became law, **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law, **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law, **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.

In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.

An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record
according to some. A LITTLE RESEARCH GOES A LONG WAY PEOPLE! He's not just a talker. He's a doer. We need Barack Obama!!
I do not believe Barack Obama should be deterred... Unless there are some hidden background flaws which would warrant his rejection.
The recent attacks on his wife and his words were the most objectionable reaction and made the talking heads of the media look childish and petty. Build a flaw were none exist just to create controversy. What ever happened in Journalism 101 "just give the facts" the media seems desperate to create flaws in these men and women who already place their lives to open public scrutiny. Like the New York Times story on McCain. Why now? If I were accused of these acts, I would not hold a news conference to say, “I am disappointed in the New York Times.” If it were not true I would call them what they would be. Prevaricators and Liars. I will never forget the words of John Murphy a lifetime political reporter for the Kentucky Post, “we don’t make the spitballs, we just throw them” which is very true. We need to remember as candidates that our history and lives wil be an open book. I hope the republicans will vote for Mike Huckabee. The statesmen who has not attacked any candidate. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone comes to mind. I recently read a story
Abraham Lincoln, it must be said his native state gave him just 0.9 percent of the vote in the pivotal 1860 presidential election that saved our nation and changed the world—as in 1,361 votes in a total of 146,216 cast.
Leaders are seldom held in high esteem in their own home territory. They often think ahead of their times.
Three states now rightly claim Lincoln: Kentucky, where he lived his first seven years; Indiana, where he grew up, taught himself to read and write, and lived until he was 21; and Illinois, where he became a lawyer, got into politics — and returned in a flag-draped coffin as a martyred president.
A little side note. One of the candidates who ran against Abraham Lincoln John C. Breckinridge, the "Southern Democratic" choice from Kentucky, was a family member of the late John B. Breckinridge.
John B. Breckinridge, my former boss who was Congressman from the old sixth district introduced legislation to give Washington D.C home rule. We have come a long ways in our attitude and actions. As one who once voter for George Wallace and was with him at Fancy Farm Picnic and Later Jessie Jackson and then Ross Perot these votes in protest of the stagnation of the system. Also, reluctantly George Bush to help restore the Supreme Court to a court who will someday reverse its acts of legislating from the bench. This year I have sent contributions to both Mike Huckabee and Barrack Obama. I like many Kentuckians cannot be put in a box. Abe Lincoln could not be put into a box, but when confronted with the issues of the day he led the country and held the Union in tack.
I remember taking the very first course offered in Black History at the University of Kentucky in 1968 with Dr. Stephen Chaning and later teaching the first unit on Black History in 1970 at Erlanger Lloyd High School. I remember when my Black neighbor's house had sand dumped in his drive way to try to intimidate him into moving from his home. I remember nominating him to be the first black to our democratic party in Boone County. I remember the reactions when I was a teacher in Cincinnati in an all black school and the reactions when I sent my son to an all black school,Douglas elementary, in Lexington. I remember the family reactions, on both sides, when my niece married a black gentleman from Cincinnati, Ohio. Twenty five years later, the marriage like many others of all races, failed, but they and their four children are going on to make great contributions to our country. One of them, Emma, who is a student at the University of Cincinnati, has already traveled to do missionary work. We now, have immigration as a top issue in our country. Leaders that fail to lead, leave a mess in their wake. Leaders that fail to follow a moral compass will always opt for easy solutions which just open the door for more decent. Thank God, Lincoln led. I believe that Mike Huckabee would have led for the Republicans and I believe Barrack Obama will lead for the democrats. Can they solve all our problems, no, but they will lead and I believe they each have a moral compass, knowledge, character and the ability to lead. Our blood bleeds red regardless of our race, religion or ethic background. We are all children of God. While it now looks like Huckabee will be unable to gain the republican nomination. Unless the remaining states see the wisdom in choosing Huckabee.. I see only one path to real change in this Nation. Barrack Obama. I as a republican will be following his campaign closely in the on coming months. We have major problems, from the wars, to health care for all our citizens, Immigration, economic growth, fair tax policy, infrastructure, energy and the very moral fiber of our nation. We all need hope. We all need to be involved. History is the light to our future.

  2. Thank you for your comment John Stephenson.

How ironic you send in your comment at this time, when I just read the same thing in an email I'd just gotten earlier yesterday morning. I intend to post an entry on the "record" of Sen Obama. Along with "Hilly's" record and you are absolutely correct all one has to do if they really wanted to know the "record of service" for both of these candidates is do a little research.

Thank You For Enlightening My Readers.
