FLASHBACK TO THE PAST FRIDAY 2

In our 2nd edition of "FLASHBACK TO THE PAST", we're flashing back to our dear brother, a true soul man and revolutionary poet ahead of his time. Curtis Mayfield.

Curtis Mayfield was born on June 3, 1942. This brother was a soul R&B funk singer, a prolific songwriter, and record producer. He was best known for his anthemic music with The Impressions and composing the soundtrack to the (so-called) 1972 blaxploitation film, SuperFly. From these works and others, he was highly regarded as a pioneer of funk and of politically conscience black music.

Bro. Curtis was also a multi-instrumentalist who played the electric guitar, bass, piano, saxophone, and drums as well as being a vocal interpreter of song.

Curtis Mayfield started his own record company. He called it 'Curtom Records'.
Associated musical acts are: The Legendary Impressions and Soul legend "The Ice Man" Jerry Butler.

Brother Curtis L. Mayfield made his transition on December 26, 1999.

He will be forever missed yet his music will forever be vibed on!
In the video below you will hear true musical genius is every sense of the word in his classic hit, Move On Up!
