CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Charles Ramsey, the Cleveland man who gained national recognition and cult-hero status for his part in the May 6 rescue of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michele Knight after being held captive for a decade, has signed a deal to become a celebrity speaker.

Ramsey has signed on with Bruce Merrin’s Celebrity Speakers & Entertainment Bureau. Merrin said in a news release that he was captivated when he saw Ramsey’s interview with Anderson Cooper on his CNN show “Anderson Cooper 360” and another CNN program.

Merrin said in a phone interview today that while he has not lined up any speaking engagements for Ramsey yet, he expects that he would speak at trade conventions, corporate functions and maybe "meet and greet" public appearances.

"The kind of typical speaking engagement we do would be in the $10,000 range. Some might be less, some might be more."

Asked what Ramsey might speak about, aside from recounting the rescue of Amanda Berry, Merrin said: "I see this presentation speech being a little bit short when he does tell his personal story, and then a lot of Q&A."

In the news release he said: “Charles' story touched my heart. When he heard Amanda Berry screaming and crying out for help, he immediately jumped into action. He forcibly kicked the front door open, and assisted Amanda and her baby to freedom. They both called 9-1-1.

"Charles Ramsey is a true hero to me. I admire and respect him.”

The news release claims that Merrin's bureau has "booked every Past President of the United States since President Reagan, and dozens of sports superstars and motivational speakers like Dr. Wayne Dyer, Jack Canfield, Michael Beckwith and Bob Proctor. "

Ramsey gained worldwide acclaim when he stopped eating his McDonald's Big Mac to help free Berry, who was trying to escape from a house next door on Seymour Avenue on the city's near West Side on May 6. His account of the rescue has been contradicted in parts by others, but Ramsey's video interviews have gone viral on the Web.

Since then, he has disavowed any endorsement of the burgers or an online video game produced in Taiwan that features his likeness.

But...he's willing to sign a speaking deal for $10K per appearance...I thought he told everyone he wasn't looking to profit off any of this...Just be the hero you are.
