Way Too Funny!!! A Picture Speaks A Thousand Words.

Pictured above is Super Silly Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum Boring The Hell Outta Some Poor Unsuspecting Black Children In A Black Church Down South. You Can See By The Looks On Their Faces That Super Silly Santorum Is Really Lighting The House On Fire With One Of His Great Interesting Speeches. (Check out the sister that has to fan the lil brother just to keep him awake through that mess)

Those poor little black children that had to suffer through another super boring ridiculous Rick Santorum speech. As you may know Rick Santorum is a candidate in the republican presidential race for president in November. This boring clownball really thinks he is the next coming of the moral majority Messiah, and he is even more delusional if he thinks he can ever remotely beat President Barack Obama to become the next President of The United States.

Below is a video of super silly Santorum giving another one of his rambling incoherent speeches. Brothers and sisters, this blog post has been on "draft" since February 5th so if I was to tell you what super silly Santorum is talking about in the video I'd be lying cause I can't even recall it.

All I can say is he's talking about "some shit", hell I don't know. Just watch the video.

The Black Fist Blog Present: Super Silly Santorum In ...
Oh who gives a damn! He will never be President anyway!

Oh yeah now I remember, this is a video where Super Silly Santorum and his equally as Super Silly racist counterpart, Super Silly Sean Hannity shows their collective racist asses to Bro. Al Sharpton on national television via super silly racist Fox News Channel.

Yeah! Watch this ...

Damn shame! But thank goodness we can see and hear for ourselves the blatant racist faces and verbal racial hatred that spews from the mouths of these so-called big shot ultra conservative white men.

This republican presidential primary race is better than comedy central. These white men don't care what the hell comes out of their mouths as long as they can get rid of the knee-grow in the White House.

We will have more of this super silly clownball Rick Santorum, as well as all the other clueless clownballs that are vying for the republican presidential nomination. We have only one word for the mentality and racial hatred these goofballs spew on the regular ...

Tower of Power
(or TOP for short) is an American R&B-based horn section and band, originating in Oakland, California, that has been performing for over 43 years.[1] They are best known for their funky soul sound highlighted by a powerful horn section. There have been several lead vocalists, the most famous being Lenny Williams, who fronted the band between early 1973 and late 1974, the period of their greatest commercial success. Their biggest hits include "You're Still A Young Man", "So Very Hard To Go", "What Is Hip?", and "Don't Change Horses (In the Middle of a Stream)."

Lenny Williams
(born Leonard Charles Williams on February 6, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas) was the lead vocalist for Tower of Power from 1972–1974 and appeared on three of the group's most commercially successful albums: Tower Of Power, Back To Oakland, and Urban Renewal. Williams left the group to pursue a solo career and made several hit recordings, including “Cause I Love You” and "Choosing You."

Mother, daughter, suspect found dead in garage

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Police have confirmed that a kidnapped 19-year-old woman Latasha Jackson, and her 13-month-old daughter, Chaniya Wynn, have been found dead on the 7000 block of Union Avenue in a closed garage.

The suspect, Thomas Lorde, 35, was also found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was Jackson's estranged boyfriend.

According to a police report, officers responded to the area of E. 70th St. and Union Ave., and then proceded to Jackson's home after Jackson and Wynn were kidnapped.

Around 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Jackson was pushing Wynn in a stroller headed south on E. 72nd St. along with David Thomas, 14. At that time, Lorde walked up to Thomas and showed him a handgun and told him "get to walking" -- as in leave the area.

Lorde then started to push the stroller with one hand while using the gun to signal Jackson to walk with him.

Thomas walked away from the scene but continued to observe the situation. He saw them continue south until he lost sight of them at E. 72nd and Union. That's when Thomas ran home and told his mother what happened. She then alerted police.

An Amber Alert was issued a few hours later.

Police investigation shows that Jackson had been attempting to get out of a relationship she had with Lorde. They had been a couple for about two months.

Cleveland Police cancelled the Amber Alert for the abducted mother and child just before 4:00 a.m. Sunday when the three were located dead in the garage of a vacant house.

According to officials, Lorde has an extensive criminal history and is registered as a sexual predator. According to the State of Ohio, he was released in 2009 after serving time for a case involving a juvenile female.

He was also a registered sex offender in the state of New York with a code 3, "extremely violent" note attached to his record.

In our five-part series: Domestic Violence Against The Black Woman, we discussed the horrible epidemic of domestic violence (DV) in our community. This is just another example of it. And an innocent child, a beautiful black baby was killed during the course of this madman's psychosis against his woman! This crazed insane negro killed his own baby!

Strictly For The Brothers: Can you please enlighten us on what would cause you to terrorize, brutalize, and abuse your black woman? What is it that causes these feelings and emotions in you? When you look at your black woman and things are not going your way, what rises up in you that causes you to lose all sense of time, space, and reality?

Seriously, I know that the black women who read this website are asking the same questions in their mind that I am asking today. Please answers these questions and speak upon anything else you feel regarding this story and this subject of domestic violence. You do not have to give your name. Please feel free to remain anonymous. We don't care what your name is black man, we just want some truth .... That's all.

Arizona sheriff facing long odds after gay outing

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu speaks at a news conference, Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012 in Florence, Ariz. Babeu, a sheriff seeking the GOP nomination for an Arizona congressional seat has been forced to confirm he is gay amid allegations of misconduct made by a man with whom he previously had a relationship. (AP Photo/The Arizona Republic, Deirdre Hamill)

FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) — Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu built a reputation as a rising, conservative star by taking a hardline stance against illegal immigration, attacking the Obama administration and appearing alongside Sen. John McCain in a 2010 re-election ad in which McCain urged federal officials to just "complete the danged fence."

But, on Saturday, Babeu's conservative image took a beating as he was forced to confirm publicly that he is gay and was involved in a relationship with a Mexican immigrant who claims the sheriff threatened to have him deported if he revealed their relationship.

Babeu denies any wrongdoing, and has vowed to continue his battle for the GOP nomination in an extremely conservative rural congressional district. He recognizes he is fighting an uphill battle, especially in a state where family values, as defined by a large evangelical Christian and Mormon population, often battle fierce, anti-immigrant beliefs to define conservatism.

At a lengthy press conference, Babeu said he hopes voters will stick with him.

His competitors think that's unlikely. Arizona Sen. Ron Gould says Babeu is sure to lose major support among the family-values voters who oppose gay marriage.

Babeu previously avoided a public stance on gay rights, but came out in favor of them on Saturday.

"I can be a supporter and get out there and help articulate as we progress as a culture and a society, that there should be individual liberties and there should be individual freedoms," Babeu said. "For any other person to define somebody else's relationship and say it not OK, that is not who we are as Americans."

Saturday's revelation already led Babeu to call presidential candidate Mitt Romney's staff to say he would step down from his post as state campaign co-chair. Babeu campaigned with Romney and was featured in robocalls in Iowa attacking Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who was then seeking the GOP nomination.

"Sheriff Babeu has stepped down from his volunteer position with the campaign so he can focus on the allegations against him. We support his decision," Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in a statement.

Some political observers think Babeu's career could be over.

"There is no question that his budding congressional campaign is over," longtime Arizona Republican political consultant Sean Noble wrote on his blog. "Because it is a Republican primary in a conservative district, it's likely that the thing that hurts him the most is that he was in a gay relationship."

Others aren't sure it's the end, but they said there's no doubt he will be hurt.

"It obviously has implications for a congressional race. There's just no question about it," said Bruce Merrill, an Arizona State University political science professor emeritus and a longtime pollster. "I don't see how any reasonable person cannot think that this is going to hurt him, particularly with the constituency that he has built, which is a very evangelical, right-wing, family oriented conservative constituency."

Babeu's acknowledgment that he is gay came after a story in the Phoenix New Times, an alternative weekly magazine that quoted a former lover as saying Babeu threatened his immigration status if he revealed their relationship.

Babeu denied claims he tried to threaten the man, a former campaign volunteer. He said the accusations were an attempt to hurt his political career. The legal status of the man, identified only as Jose by the New Times and Babeu, was unclear. His lawyer said he was unavailable for comment but might be available in a few days.

Jose provided the New Times with photos of him and Babeu embracing. It also posted a cell phone self-portrait of a smiling Babeu in his underwear and another of what appears to be the shirtless sheriff in a bathroom, posted on a gay dating web site. Babeu didn't deny their authenticity.

Babeu made national headlines soon after his 2008 defeat of an incumbent in his rural county south of Phoenix by jumping on the anti-illegal immigration bandwagon led by longtime Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and berating the federal government for allowing human and drug smuggling to go unchecked.

Then in 2010, he was tapped by McCain to help champion his border security plan during McCain's re-election effort.

McCain, asked Sunday on ABC's "This Week" about Babeu, said he thought of him as a friend.

"I do not know the details, except what has been published in the media," he said. "And I'm sure there will be a thorough and complete investigation, if there is any allegation of wrongdoing. All I can say is that he also deserves the benefit, as every citizen does, of innocence until proven guilty. But I appreciate the support that he gave me in my campaign and always will."

Arpaio, a longtime ally, distanced himself.

"All I can say is he's the sheriff of Pinal County, and it's up to him to face his issues, not me," Arpaio told The Arizona Republic. He said Babeu has been "begging" for an endorsement in the congressional primary.

"I don't even think I'm going to get involved," Arpaio said. "We'll see what happens with Babeu."

Just last weekend, Babeu gave a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., reiterating his criticism of Obama, the Justice Department's failed "Operation Fast and Furious" gunrunning investigation and seeking support for his congressional campaign.

Babeu has been something of an enigma since he appeared on the scene. He was elected to the city council of his hometown of North Adams, Mass., at age 18, and came to Arizona shortly after losing an election for North Adams mayor in 2001.

He became a Chandler police officer and in November 2008 defeated a Democratic incumbent to become sheriff.

Along the way, he served in the Army National Guard as both an enlisted man and an officer, retiring from the Arizona Guard as a major after serving stints in Iraq and along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Well, Well Well! Look what we have here! Looks like we have another example of White GOP hypocrisy, White dirty secrets & lies, White on-the-down-low homosexuality, and White GOP hypocrisy.... (did I already mention that?)

Here we have a so-called big shot Pinal County Sheriff in Arizona, a Republican at that (you know the Republican Party claims to be for "family values", "wholesomeness", "purity", "Against homosexuals", "For God & Guns", and of course the main political party that loves the good ol' "AmeriKKKan way"!)

And here is Sheriff Babeu attacking so-called illegal Mexicans spouting off everywhere there's a microphone that the illegal Mexican should be tossed back to Mexico and out of the ol' good ol' U. S. of A. all while touting his GOP Republican talking points and endorsing Republican Presidential Candidate Willard Mitt Romney.

This is the same white man Arizona sheriff who attacks President Barack Obama EVERY chance he gets because he is still pissed off and mad that his man Sen. John (Wayne) McCain didn't win the presidency against then Sen. Obama with [his endorsement] back in 2008.

But low and behold the good ol' boy Sheriff while talking tough and big shotting in public about his mortal disdain for the illegal Mexican ... He's actually practicing hot nasty sweaty homosexual "backdoor love" .... WITH AN ILLEGAL MEXICAN!!!

Brothers and sisters I can't make this shit up! Y'all just read it! I'm still laughing my ass off!!! Boy I'll tell you these hypocritical white folks are better comedy than anything you can find on Comedy Central AND The Laugh Factory put together!!!

Bobby Brown leaves Houston funeral after a spat

By the CNN Wire Staff
updated 4:29 PM EST, Sat February 18, 2012
  • Brown said security asked his entourage to move three times
  • He had arrived with about nine people
  • "I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how," he says
  • He and Houston were married from 1992 till 2007

Newark, New Jersey (CNN) -- Singer Bobby Brown made a brief and dramatic appearance at ex-wife Whitney Houston's memorial service on Saturday, leaving abruptly after being told that his entourage couldn't sit together, police sources told CNN.

He arrived with several people and was apparently emotionally distraught, with red eyes and head hanging as he walked up the aisle of the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. He approached Houston's casket, past it and back down the aisle.

On CNN's live video feed, Brown was shown standing out front of the church soon after the service began. He was not seated with family, friends or other celebrities at the front of the church.

"My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston," Brown later said in a news statement. "We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions. I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi Kristina.

"In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. ... I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how," the statement said.

Describing what happened at the service, the Rev. Al Sharpton posted on his Twitter account: "I am at Whitney's funeral. I spoke with Bobby Brown trying to calm him down and not distract from the services. Today is about Whitney."

Brown is scheduled to perform with his group, New Edition, later Saturday in Connecticut. Brown considers performing as therapy to get him through a difficult time, a source close to him said Sunday.

He and Houston were married from 1992 till 2007, with Houston getting sole custody of their daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, when they divorced. Their daughter was born in 1993.

When they married in July 1992, questions arose about whether it was a publicity stunt to help polish Brown's image as a bad boy who had weathered drug rumors and had acknowledged having three children out of wedlock. Houston scoffed at such rumors, saying that anyone who questioned their marriage didn't understand what the commitment meant to her. They married in a lavish ceremony at her New Jersey estate.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, reports begin to surface about Houston's struggles with drug addiction, health problems and her rocky marriage with Brown. Her album sales dropped off, and her voice began to show signs of wear.

In a now-infamous interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer in 2002, Houston admitted to using drugs, but denied using crack. "Crack is whack," she said, quoting a line from a mural painted in 1986. In the same interview, Houston said, "The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy."

In 2004, filming began on the short-lived reality show "Being Bobby Brown." "The show aired during the worst years of the couple's crumbling marriage: drug use, lifestyle excess and bad behavior were all caught on tape, and Houston's reputation sunk to new lows," according to Houston later said she did the show to try to save her marriage.

In March 2011, Brown announced that he and his New Edition bandmates were reuniting and planning a new album and tour.

The group -- made up of Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Michael Bivins, Ricky Bell, Ronnie DeVoe and Johnny Gill -- had gotten together periodically over the years, with and without Brown.

The band was set to give it one more shot, Brown said last March.

"The good news I want to announce is New Edition has gotten back together," he said on daytime talk show "The View."

Brown also talked a bit about Houston and their daughter, who he said looked like him, but sang better than Houston.

After highly publicized tumultuous times that included substance abuse problems and multiple brushes with the law over the years, Brown said he was doing well.

"I have a brand new son, Cassius," he said then. "I have a fiancée. I am just moving forward with my life and trying to stay positive."

Brown's music career initially took off with New Edition, which started as an R&B boy band.

He left New Edition in 1986, after hits that included "Candy Girl," "Cool It Now," and "Mr. Telephone Man."

His solo career has included his 1988 multiplatinum album, "Don't Be Cruel," which featured the hit singles "Don't Be Cruel," "Every Little Step," "Rock Wit' Cha," "My Prerogative" and "Roni."

CNN's Don Lemon and Raelyn Johnson contributed to this report.

(We thank CNN for sharing this story us.)

Lord Have Mercy!!! What more can I say except "The Blaming of Bobby Brown Needs To Stop!!!"

Former DARE officer indicted for tampering with official records

A former DARE officer was indicted Thursday on charges of tampering with official paperwork.

Sandra Johnson, 38, worked as a DARE officer at Winton Hills Academy.

Johnson was indicted for tampering with records and securing writings by deception.

According to the indictment, in March 2011, Johnson gave herself extra hours on her time sheet for DARE classes she did not teach.

Johnson has been suspended without pay and her police powers have been taken away.

(Story courtesy of Fox 19)

Wow! It's that last sentence that jumped out at me when reading this story... "Johnson has been suspended without pay and her police powers have been taken away."

I suppose based on past patterns & practices of the Cincinnati Police Department under the leadership of now retired former Cincinnati Police Chief Thomas L. Streicher Jr., that had Officer Sandra Johnson killed a black man unjustifiably (as so many past white male Cincinnati police officers have done) then she would have been allowed to go home without her criminal mugshot displayed for all to see. Oh yes, Officer Johnson would have also been allowed to proceed on with her job intact, a promotion with increased police powers, and a substantial increase in her pay.

However, seeing as though Officer Johnson (the black woman) allegedly "tampered with records and secured writings by deception". This particular Cincinnati Police officer has been stripped of her police powers and suspended without pay.

Makes sense doesn't it??? Only in good ol' Sinsinnati!

In our continuing reports on the death of Whitney Houston, I thought this story was a very very important story to add to the conversation. It has been my personal belief over the years that Whitney's ex-husband Bobby Brown has caught a helluva lot of hell & blame for so-called "turning her out on drugs". Which is just plain falsehood & bullshit!!! Whitney Houston was 5 years older than Bobby. Bobby Brown always kept his lifestyle & "activities" on the real, he never hid what the hell he was doing. He didn't have to he is grown. Unlike equally as grown Whitney who played the role of the high class pure pop princess. Whitney was drinking, smoking gunja (weed) & snorting that white stuff (cocaine) way before she even hooked-up with the man Bobby Brown, as those who knew her best have always reported over the years. So the blaming of Bobby Brown needs to cease & desist! Whitney was responsible for Whitney & Bobby is responsible for Bobby! PERIOD!! Those are my thoughts. Read the story below & tell us your thoughts.

Why we can't blame Bobby Brown for Whitney Houston's death

Why we can't blame Bobby Brown for Whitney Houston's death

Even in death, the original perception of Whitney Houston -- that of something short of regal, befitting of a person with such a splendid gift of song -- continues to cloud reality.

It's a concept of Whitney Houston that even the real Whitney sought to counter. In her 1995 VIBE cover story, the now fallen singer flatly declared, "I come from Newark, born and raised in New Hope Baptist Church. All-girl school, mostly white girl, yeah--but this is what I am. This is what I'm used to. This is what I like. What you all may think it is, it ain't." To put it even more bluntly she said, "Whoever set this little story up before I got here, it's changed. It's different. I'm not Diana [Ross]. I'm not."

Whitney Houston dead at 48: Remembering the queen of pop

She made these comments in reference to criticism of her that began when her relationship with Bobby Brown started in 1989, intensified in 1992, and has found its way back into the conversation in 2012 following her untimely death. Prefacing her position with "I'm not the one to be talking about black and white issues," Houston offered an honest assessment of the flack she and her then-husband were getting. She said, "But we all know who runs this whole thing -- we all know who's in power right? Well when they saw me they saw me as their little princess and [figured] 'She's going to marry a white man,' or whatever."

Perhaps it was about race, but it may have been more about pedigree. Regardless, people didn't like their princess being with a sinking R&B star known for arrests, lewdness and everything else antithetical to what made Whitney Houston such a global celebrity. To this day, many still don't get it and ask, 'How could she have married him?' The answer is as clear then as it is now: Because she wanted to.

That has never been a good enough answer for some, though, which always made Bobby an easy target. I imagine he's used to it, but there's something to be said about timing. Anyone who's been paying attention to the coverage of the megastar's death has more than likely caught on to the subtle and not-so-subtle attempts by various members of the press to link Whitney's death with him. Select Whitney Houston fans have used social media to chime in with their shared suspicions, writing such harsh comments like "Bobby Brown you took our diva and turned her into an addict."

It's not surprising people feel this way. Their tumultuous marriage and all the mental, physical, and verbal abuse charges that came with it, left a lasting impression on the public. As did the couple's ugliest public episode -- the reality series Being Bobby Brown, an inside look at how two troubled people co-habitate and engage in co-dependency. But no matter how conceivable it is for people to develop the perception that it's all Bobby Brown's fault, it doesn't make it true.

I love Whitney Houston and will forever appreciate the mark she left on the world, but nevertheless it's unfair to point fingers at someone as the source of problems that were long rumored to have been present before they arrived.

Following the end of their marriage in 2007, both Bobby and Whitney offered their perspectives on the relationship. Referring to her ex as "her drug" a candid Whitney told Oprah Winfrey, "I was so weak to him. I was so weak to the love." As for Bobby, he actually once accused Whitney of introducing him to cocaine, though in a separate interview acknowledged what truly led him to addiction. "I did drugs because I was lonely and thought no one cared for me. I take full responsibility for everything I've done. I'm just grateful to be where I am now."

Each response points to what typically spurs an addiction: A lingering pain and the desire to escape it.

Speaking with E! News gossip columnist Ted Casablanca, an unnamed "friend" of Whitney Houston dismissed talk of Bobby being to blame by noting, "It was Whitney herself. I think even she has admitted that. And Bobby never forced her to do anything. These were her choices."

Whatever is ruled to be Whitney Houston's official cause of death, it makes no sense to continue blaming Bobby Brown. We are responsible for our own actions and the consequences they yield. Instead of wagging our fingers, let her rest, let him grieve in peace, and let us just pray for those who remain in pain and who seek ways to cope.

Well, today is the day "the white man" says Negroes & other folks can "love each other", or should I say "celebrate their love. Wow! We have "his" permission for something else in this world ain't that great?!? Yeah, Ok.
We choose to call today Black Love Day.

What we do know is, today is the day "the big white man" gets $1 billion dollars richer. Yes, Valentine's Day is suppose to be a day for lovers & open expressions of love .... Wow! What a glorious thing, huh? ~Or~ Are we suppose to be doing that everyday not just on February the 14th?

I would say everyday should be a day of black love. Black Love for yourself. Black Love for family. Black Love for your black community. Black love for black humanity. Black love from the black man toward his black woman. Black love from the black woman toward her black man. Black love from both the black man & black woman toward their black child(ren).

But what do we do as Africans in AmeriKKKa? You guessed it! We wait until whitey tells us to spend our last dollar & our last dime to show our significant other that "we love them". How stupid, dumb, & ignorant are we willing to remain brothers & sisters? Now I'm not knocking the concept of Valentine's Day as a worldwide day of "love". I'm just saying "Why the hell can't we be in the mode of Valentine's Day everyday"? Wouldn't that be a more beautifully black way of operating? I believe so.

What do you think brothers & sisters? Do you even celebrate the 14th of February as "The day of love"? Is Valentine's Day even on your radar? How do feel about the concept of feeling as if you are forced to spend an X amount of money on just one day to express this thang called "Love"? Black man how do you feel about the black woman you call yours, because she is yours everyday & not just on Valentine's Day? And Black woman, how do you feel about the black man you call yours everyday because he is yours everyday & not just on Valentine's Day?

Just what will the black man & his black woman do on a day like today, February 14th, Valentine's Day? Of course, we wanna hear from you. We here at The Black Fist Blog wanna hear your stories of "Black Love".

Because "Black Love" does exist, it's out there, it's real, & it feels oh so good .... when it's right! ;-() Hmmm! ~~ Click on the video below for some deep sexy "Black Love Day" music. Sit back, vibe to it, & think about the one you love .....

I would like to wish the NAACP (National Association For The Advancement of Colored People), a Happy Happy 103rd Birthday! I would also like to thank Ms. Roslyn M. Brock, Chairman & MY President of the NAACP, Mr. Bro. Benjamin Todd Jealous for their many warm personal emails.

As a national member, I am proud of all of the hard work MY President Bro. Benjamin Jealous is doing for our people so selflessly I might add. Not like the grandstanding, buffoonery, and downright silliness that goes on from other presidents in other branches I'm told (for example that so-called president here in Cincinnati). No, Bro. President Jealous has a deep love for his people and he shows it by the seriousness in the way he conducts NAACP business. Along with his whole professional demeanor as we see it in this brother, that's why myself and others do not mind calling him ... The Honorable President Bro. Benjamin Todd Jealous.

Below is an email I received just today from MY President Jealous & Sis. Rosalyn Brock, that I don't mind sharing with all of you.

Once again, from all the members of The Black Fist Organization & CEO and Faculty here at The Black Fist Blog, HAPPY 103RD BIRTHDAY NAACP!!!

Dear General Nikki X.

And our second will be no different..

Founders’ Day has always been a time for reflection and renewal for the NAACP family. We are grounded in our past and focused firmly on the future.

Please join us Wednesday, February 15 for an historic phone briefing hosted by the leadership of the NAACP, as we discuss the next century of NAACP priorities. The call starts at 8:00 PM Eastern/5:00 PM Pacific, and space is limited to the first 5,000 callers. Click on the link below to RSVP, and we will send you call-in details on Wednesday afternoon:

The Beverly Hills Fire Department says Bobbi Kristina Brown was taken from the Beverly Hills Hilton around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, less than a day after her mother died in a room at the same hotel.

The 18-year-old's condition was not immediately known.

An email message sent to a representative of her father, Bobby Brown, was not immediately returned.

Coroner's officials received Whitney Houston's body early Sunday morning, but have not yet said when an autopsy will occur. Any cause of death determination will likely be delayed while they await toxicology results.

Singer Whitney Houston dies at 48

LOS ANGELES - Whitney Houston, who ruled as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.

Houston's publicist, Kristen Foster, said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.

News of Houston's death came on the eve of music's biggest night — the Grammy Awards. It's a showcase where she once reigned, and her death was sure to case a heavy pall on Sunday's ceremony. Houston's longtime mentor Clive Davis was to hold his annual concert and dinner Saturday; it was unclear if it was going to go forward.

At her peak, Houston the golden girl of the music industry. From the middle 1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world's best-selling artists. She wowed audiences with effortless, powerful, and peerless vocals that were rooted in the black church but made palatable to the masses with a pop sheen.

Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like "The Bodyguard" and "Waiting to Exhale."

She had the he perfect voice, and the perfect image: a gorgeous singer who had sex appeal but was never overtly sexual, who maintained perfect poise.

She influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey, who when she first came out sounded so much like Houston that many thought it was Houston.

But by the end of her career, Houston became a stunning cautionary tale of the toll of drug use. Her album sales plummeted and the hits stopped coming; her once serene image was shattered by a wild demeanor and bizarre public appearances. She confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime.

"The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy," Houston told ABC's Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview with then-husband Brown by her side.

It was a tragic fall for a superstar who was one of the top-selling artists in pop music history, with more than 55 million records sold in the United States alone.

She seemed to be born into greatness. She was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of 1960s pop diva Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin.

Houston first started singing in the church as a child. In her teens, she sang backup for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and others, in addition to modeling. It was around that time when music mogul Clive Davis first heard Houston perform.

"The time that I first saw her singing in her mother's act in a club ... it was such a stunning impact," Davis told "Good Morning America."

"To hear this young girl breathe such fire into this song. I mean, it really sent the proverbial tingles up my spine," he added.

Before long, the rest of the country would feel it, too. Houston made her album debut in 1985 with "Whitney Houston," which sold millions and spawned hit after hit. "Saving All My Love for You" brought her her first Grammy, for best female pop vocal. "How Will I Know," "You Give Good Love" and "The Greatest Love of All" also became hit singles.

Another multiplatinum album, "Whitney," came out in 1987 and included hits like "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

The New York Times wrote that Houston "possesses one of her generation's most powerful gospel-trained voices, but she eschews many of the churchier mannerisms of her forerunners. She uses ornamental gospel phrasing only sparingly, and instead of projecting an earthy, tearful vulnerability, communicates cool self-assurance and strength, building pop ballads to majestic, sustained peaks of intensity."

Her decision not to follow the more soulful inflections of singers like Franklin drew criticism by some who saw her as playing down her black roots to go pop and reach white audiences. The criticism would become a constant refrain through much of her career. She was even booed during the "Soul Train Awards" in 1989.

"Sometimes it gets down to that, you know?" she told Katie Couric in 1996. "You're not black enough for them. I don't know. You're not R&B enough. You're very pop. The white audience has taken you away from them."

Some saw her 1992 marriage to former New Edition member and soul crooner Bobby Brown as an attempt to refute those critics. It seemed to be an odd union; she was seen as pop's pure princess while he had a bad-boy image, and already had children of his own. (The couple had a daughter, Bobbi Kristina, in 1993.) Over the years, he would be arrested several times, on charges ranging from DUI to failure to pay child support.

But Houston said their true personalities were not as far apart as people may have believed.

"When you love, you love. I mean, do you stop loving somebody because you have different images? You know, Bobby and I basically come from the same place," she told Rolling Stone in 1993. "You see somebody, and you deal with their image, that's their image. It's part of them, it's not the whole picture. I am not always in a sequined gown. I am nobody's angel. I can get down and dirty. I can get raunchy."

It would take several years, however, for the public to see that side of Houston. Her moving 1991 rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl, amid the first Gulf War, set a new standard and once again reaffirmed her as America's sweetheart.

In 1992, she became a star in the acting world with "The Bodyguard." Despite mixed reviews, the story of a singer (Houston) guarded by a former Secret Service agent (Kevin Costner) was an international success.

It also gave her perhaps her most memorable hit: a searing, stunning rendition of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You," which sat atop the charts for weeks. It was Grammy's record of the year and best female pop vocal, and the "Bodyguard" soundtrack was named album of the year.

She returned to the big screen in 1995-96 with "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Preacher's Wife." Both spawned soundtrack albums, and another hit studio album, "My Love Is Your Love," in 1998, brought her a Grammy for best female R&B vocal for the cut "It's Not Right But It's Okay."

But during these career and personal highs, Houston was using drugs. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2010, she said by the time "The Preacher's Wife" was released, "(doing drugs) was an everyday thing. ... I would do my work, but after I did my work, for a whole year or two, it was every day. ... I wasn't happy by that point in time. I was losing myself."

In the interview, Houston blamed her rocky marriage to Brown, which included a charge of domestic abuse against Brown in 1993. They divorced in 2007.

Houston would go to rehab twice before she would declare herself drug-free to Winfrey in 2010. But in the interim, there were missed concert dates, a stop at an airport due to drugs, and public meltdowns.

She was so startlingly thin during a 2001 Michael Jackson tribute concert that rumors spread she had died the next day. Her crude behavior and jittery appearance on Brown's reality show, "Being Bobby Brown," was an example of her sad decline. Her Sawyer interview, where she declared "crack is whack," was often parodied. She dropped out of the spotlight for a few years.

Houston staged what seemed to be a successful comeback with the 2009 album "I Look To You." The album debuted on the top of the charts, and would eventually go platinum.

Things soon fell apart. A concert to promote the album on "Good Morning America" went awry as Houston's voice sounded ragged and off-key. She blamed an interview with Winfrey for straining her voice.

A world tour launched overseas, however, only confirmed suspicions that Houston had lost her treasured gift, as she failed to hit notes and left many fans unimpressed; some walked out. Canceled concert dates raised speculation that she may have been abusing drugs, but she denied those claims and said she was in great shape, blaming illness for cancellations.
